1.

How do you remove a stump?

A stump is ground into chips. Please CLICK HERE to see our equipment in action.

TOP

2.

What do I do with the wood chips?

We rake all chips into a pile. Most of the time they will settle to ground level. Please CLICK HERE to see some Before-and-After photos.

TOP

3.

How deep can you grind the stump?

We can grind stumps up to 15 inches deep depending on which one of our machines we use.

TOP

4.

What about buried utilities and irrigation lines?

The homeowner is responsible to advise us where the irrigation lines and sprinkler heads are. If we are not comfortable with where the utilities are, we will call to have them located. Sometimes it is not possible to save the the irrigation lines and grind the stump too.

TOP

5.

Who is responsible for broken irrigation lines?

We cannot take responsibility for irrigation lines if the location markings are not accurate or the homeowner is unsure of where they are. If the stumps cannot be ground without the possibility of hitting the lines, then the homeowner must make the decision for us to continue.

TOP

6.

How small or large of a stump can you grind?

We can grind any size stump as long as our machine has access to it.

TOP

7.

How close to a fence or house can you grind?

Generally, within inches.

TOP

8.

How much access do you need to get to the stump?

We need at least a 3 foot wide access point to get to a stump with our smaller machine. This machine is also small enough and light enough to remove any stumps inside a pool deck.

TOP

9.

Will the machine hurt my yard or damage sidewalks and driveways?

Our machines will not hurt driveways or side walks. They are lighter than most vehicles. Only a yard that is very wet from heavy rains will retain a small impression from our machines. Under normal conditions there will be no marks in the yard at all.

TOP

10.

What size is your equipment?

We have three (3) different size machines ranging from small to much larger.

TOP

11.

Do you guarantee your work?

We guarantee all of our work. We do not consider a job complete until the customer is satisfied.

TOP

12.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks as well as major credit cards as listed on the left side of this page. Click HERE to see payment types on left side of page.

TOP

13.

Just for Fun!

During our many years of being in the successful stump removal business, we have encountered many Homeowners that have tried to save money with the Do-It-Yourself Home Remedy stump removal methods.

In the end, the frustrated homeowners all called our team at Comly's Stump Grinding, a licensed and insured professional company. We removed the troubling stump within a short period of time.

DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD #1

Growing Old

Growing Old With The Stump

Pour chemicals on the stump and repeat every week for years.

Just wait, it will eventually disappear in a decade or two or three!

DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD #2

Explosion

Ka-Boom

Dynamite the stump after making sure that there are no neighbors within a two or three block radius.

First, however, make sure it is legal in your state and get the appropriate permits.

DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD #3

Pizza & Beer

Beer and Pizza Party

Lure your best buddies over with the promise of a beer and pizza party and then get them to spend the day (or weekend) digging the stump out.

DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD #4

Truck Pull

Truck Pull

If your buddies can't dig out the stump, make sure one of them brings his big strong truck. Get a chain and wrap it around the truck bumper and then around the stump.

Be sure to ask the truck owner if he has insurance that will replace the bumper just in case the stump wins the "truck-pull!"

DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD #5

Fire

Bon-Fire

Purchase five gallons of diesel fuel. Soak the stump generously with the diesel.

Don't stand too close while lighting a match and throwing it on the stump.

Be prepared to sleep with this fire that cannot be extinguished and will burn for two days.

During the two days of "fire-watching," it is recommended that plans be drawn up for a new structure to take the place of the stump because nothing will grow there again.

DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD #6

Grinder

Rent-Again-and-Again

(a) Call a rental service and reserve a stump grinder.

(b) Get a vehicle to pick it up.

(c) Grind out the stump, while watching the time limit set by the rental service.

(d) Fill up the grinder with gas.

(e) Hurry to take back the grinder, while at the same time reserving it again with anticipation to finish the job next time.

Start over again at (a) but make sure that the machine has sharpened grinding teeth this time.

Finally, assuming that the machine has no break-downs, you have now done all the work and spent more money (not to mention "time") than it would have cost to hire a professional.

Just calculate the cost of the rented machine and all your time spent trying to finish the job.

Compare this cost to hiring Comly Stump Grinding.
